From the timetable, list each class taken online or by distance learning, the credits or clock hours of that class, and whether the student is in an English language training program or in M-1 status. Do not decide that the online class counts toward a full course.
What the lawyer must review
You decide what counts toward the full course. The full-course page, last updated 6 February 2024, defines an online or distance-learning course, for these regulations, as a course offered primarily through technology that does not require the student's physical attendance for classes, examinations, or other purposes integral to completion of the class. Only one class, or three credits, during each term or semester may count toward a full course for an F-1 student if the class is online or through distance learning. No online or distance-learning class may count toward a full course for an M-1 student or an English language training student. A Study in the States post of 13 July 2012 states the same one-class or three-credit count, and it says the post may be outdated. That post also says an F-1 student may count more than one online class where the class is physically proctored or monitored by a school employee. The 6 February 2024 page does not state that exception. The count used here is the count on the 2024 page. Confirm 8 CFR 214.2(f)(6) before treating the 2012 proctor sentence as a current rule. That regulation was not the page opened for this count.
