- How AI is used
- From the invoices and the lawyer's notes, list the parties, the jurisdiction facts, the dates and amounts, and the relief the lawyer has already approved. Do not write the complaint.
- What the lawyer must review
- You write the complaint. Rule 8(a) requires a short and plain statement of the grounds for jurisdiction, unless the court already has jurisdiction and the claim needs no new support, a short and plain statement of the claim showing that the pleader is entitled to relief, and a demand for the relief sought, which may include relief in the alternative. Rule 11(b) is your certification when you present the paper: it is not for an improper purpose, and the legal contentions are warranted by existing law or by a nonfrivolous argument. In a diversity case, § 1332(a) requires that the matter in controversy exceed $75,000, exclusive of interest and costs, and that the citizenship tests be met, including the exception for a permanent resident domiciled in the same State as the opposing citizen. State courts do not use Rule 8.
