Prepare an installment or settlement agreement from approved terms
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- List only the parties, the balance, the installment dates, and the other terms the lawyer has already written down. Do not write a clause of the agreement.
- What the lawyer must review
- You write every clause that will be signed. Model Rule 1.4(b) requires an explanation sufficient for the client to make an informed decision about those terms. If a debt collector will send the agreement while collecting a consumer debt, read § 1692a for who is a debt collector and § 1692g before it goes out. Section 1692g(d) says a formal pleading in a civil action is not an initial communication. This agreement is not that pleading. This check opened no statute that sets the clauses of a settlement. Formal Opinion 512 applies if client information is put into a tool to compare drafts.
