List the assignment chain before suit on a debt
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- In date order, list each assignment in the file: assignor, assignee, date, and the debt described. Mark a missing link. Do not say the plaintiff may sue.
- What the lawyer must review
- You decide whether the plaintiff has the claim. Rule 11(b)(3) is your certification that the factual contentions have evidentiary support, or will likely have it after a reasonable opportunity for investigation, when you identify them that way. Rule 11(b)(2) covers the legal contentions. No assignment statute was opened, so the list does not say an assignment is effective. Formal Opinion 512 applies before the chain is put into a tool. A link that is not in the file is not filled in.
