When to use it

Use at a form, an account page, or another point where a business collects personal information from a consumer. Use the on-premises paragraph only for collection on premises, including in a vehicle. Do not use it as the full privacy policy.

Used for these tasks

Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.

How AI may be used

AI may fill the categories and purposes from the collection point the lawyer has described. The lawyer checks that each item in section 1798.100(a) is actually in the notice before it is shown to consumers.

AI may

  • Fill categories, purposes and retention from the lawyer's collection map for this page or form
  • List fields the form collects that are missing from the notice
  • Keep a separate version for sensitive personal information when the map shows it is collected

AI must not

  • Must not replace the notice with a link to the privacy policy
  • Must not state that information is not sold or shared unless the lawyer has said so
  • Must not add the on-premises wording to a website collection, or the reverse

The lawyer checks

  • The notice is given at or before collection and contains categories, purposes, sale or sharing, and retention or criteria
  • Sensitive personal information has its own categories, purposes and sale or sharing statement if it is collected
  • A third party controlling collection uses the homepage path or the on-premises path only as section 1798.100(b) states them
