Consumer request response
Letter responding to a California consumer's request to know, delete or correct. It tracks the 45-day period, the verification step, and the right to know in section 1798.110. It does not refuse deletion on an exception the lawyer has not read.

When to use it
Use to answer one verifiable, or not yet verifiable, consumer request under the CCPA. Do not use it to decide that the requester is the consumer. Do not use the correction section until the lawyer has read section 1798.106 and written that part.
Used for these tasks
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may assemble the categories and the specific pieces from a system export the lawyer has approved, and calculate the 45-day date. The lawyer decides verification, any deletion exception, and the correction wording.
AI may
- Calculate the day 45 days after receipt, and the extension notice date if the lawyer asks for one
- Place an approved export under the five headings in section 1798.110(a)
- List whether this consumer has already received sections 1798.110 and 1798.115 information twice in the past 12 months
AI must not
- Must not decide that the requester is the consumer or is authorized to act
- Must not refuse deletion by inventing an exception under section 1798.105(d)
- Must not draft the correction under section 1798.106, or tell the consumer a request is denied
The lawyer checks
- Verification was decided by the business, using commercially reasonable methods, and did not extend the 45 days
- A know-response covers the 12 months before receipt, and specific pieces are actually included
- Any deletion refusal cites section 1798.105(d) only after that subdivision has been read against the facts
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
