Use after the first court date or first conference with a parent client. Adapt reading level and language, and arrange an interpreter if needed. Do not send to an address or account that is not safe or private for the client.
How AI may be used
AI may help produce plain-language and translated versions of advice the lawyer has settled, under close supervision. The lawyer checks accuracy, and identifying information about the child stays out of tools not approved for it.
AI may
- Rewrite the lawyer's settled advice at a lower reading level for checking
- Produce a draft translation for checking by a qualified translator
AI must not
- Must not receive the child's name, placement, carers or departmental records unless the tool is approved for that information
- Must not change the legal advice, predict the outcome or add content the lawyer has not approved
The lawyer checks
- Every legal statement is accurate for this client and this stage
- Translations checked by a qualified translator before sending
- The letter is delivered safely and privately
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
