Index each numbered allegation, the document that supports or contradicts it, and the deadline printed on the notice. Write no sentence of the answer.
What the lawyer must review
Under ABA Model Rule for Lawyer Disciplinary Enforcement 11(B)(2), disciplinary counsel must not recommend a disposition other than dismissal or a stay without first notifying the respondent in writing of the substance of the matter and giving an opportunity to be heard. Formal charges must give fair and adequate notice of the nature of the alleged misconduct (Rule 11(D)). The respondent serves a written answer within the time the adopting jurisdiction sets. The model text says twenty days unless extended, and that failure to answer means the factual allegations are deemed admitted. Those times are in brackets. You write the answer. You do not admit a fact the file does not support in order to meet a generated draft. Model Rule 3.3 applies in the proceeding: do not knowingly make a false statement of fact or law. Client information stays under Model Rule 1.6.
