Checklist
- On the SIRA page, an interstate crash is a NSW registered motor vehicle involved in a crash in another Australian State or Territory.
- If the person was injured while driving or riding that vehicle, eligibility for compulsory third party or motor accident scheme payments is determined by the laws of the place where the crash occurred. The page says its overview of other schemes may have changed.
- The page does not use where the person lives, or whether they were in the vehicle, as the test. A passenger, or a person outside the vehicle, is not decided by the driving-or-riding sentence. Those facts stay on the table for the lawyer.
- Clause 4.39 is a different fact. Where a vehicle considered at fault was registered outside NSW, the NSW insurer paying statutory benefits for the Nominal Defendant must copy the liability notice to that vehicle's insurer, at the initial decision and at each later decision under section 6.19, including the notice for benefits after 52 weeks. That clause does not choose the scheme. Section 6.19 was not opened.

The page sorts other places into groups and then sets out benefits and claim times for each place. Those details are not copied into this version. The lawyer checks the current law of the crash place. Do not treat the page as a decision about which scheme applies.
