Key facts

- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- List the household income and assets supplied, and whether the applicant is described as a victim of domestic violence. Do not decide eligibility.
- What the lawyer must review
- 42 U.S.C. § 2996f(a)(2) requires the Corporation to set maximum income levels, taking account of family size, urban and rural differences, and cost of living, and guidelines that include liquid assets, income, fixed debts, and medical expenses. 45 C.F.R. § 1611.3 says the recipient's annual income ceiling may not exceed 125 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and that the recipient must set reasonable asset ceilings. For an applicant described as a victim of domestic violence, the recipient counts that applicant's income and assets and those of other household members, and not assets of the alleged perpetrator, including assets held jointly. Section 1611.5 authorizes exceptions. There is no national contribution scale and no national rule requiring security over property.
