List the blanks already marked in a Word precedent
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- List each blank or bracket already printed in the Word precedent, and quote the surrounding clause. Write no new clause and no new blank.
- What the lawyer must review
- You write any clause that an automated precedent will insert into a document a client or a counterparty may sign. Model Rule 1.1 requires competent representation, and ABA Formal Opinion 512 requires independent verification of generated text, including because the tools can hallucinate. Marking a blank that is already in the Word file is an index. Composing the words around it is not. Model Rule 1.6(a) applies before the precedent, if it contains information relating to a representation, is put into a tool that will not keep it confidential.
