Build a checklist: verify every case, quote the publication from the capture, and keep the draft out of a public tool. Write no paragraph of the complaint or the advice letter.
What the lawyer must review
Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 11 is your certification when you sign a federal-court paper, including that legal contentions are warranted and factual contentions have evidentiary support. Opinion 512 and the California 2026 guidance require you to verify citations and keep candor with the lawyer. Civil Code § 45 defines libel as a false and unprivileged publication by writing, printing, picture, effigy or other fixed representation to the eye, which exposes a person to hatred, contempt, ridicule or obloquy, or causes the person to be shunned or avoided, or tends to injure the person in an occupation. You apply that definition. The checklist does not.
