List file facts a character writer may be given
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- List the facts the lawyer marks as suitable to give the writer, each with the page. Do not write a letter and do not address the court.
- What the lawyer must review
- The writer writes the letter. You do not put a sentence into it. Section 3553(a)(1) considers the defendant's history and characteristics. Model Rule 3.3 applies if you later hand the letter up: a fact in it has to be one you can stand behind. Formal Opinion 512 applies before the file goes into a tool. The Guidelines Manual was not opened, so this list states no reduction for character.
