Prepare the financing-statement data sheet from the signed security terms
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Pull the debtor name, the secured-party name and the collateral description from the signed security agreement into a filing data sheet, and flag any name that does not match the organic record the lawyer has supplied.
- What the lawyer must review
- Uniform Commercial Code § 9-502 makes a financing statement sufficient only if it gives the debtor's name, the secured party's name (or a representative), and an indication of the collateral. The filing office applies the Article 9 enacted in that state, including that state's debtor-name rules. Check the debtor's name against the public organic record, or the individual's driver's licence where the state rule requires it, before the statement is submitted. A generated name is not a filing.
