How AI is used
Match each person in the data to the class definition the lawyer or the certification order states, and flag a person who does not match or whose required data is missing. Do not rewrite the definition.
What the lawyer must review
Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23(c)(1)(B): an order that certifies a class action must define the class and the class claims, issues or defenses, and must appoint class counsel under Rule 23(g). You decide whether a person is inside that definition. A match against a spreadsheet is not that decision. Rule 23(c)(5): when appropriate, a class may be divided into subclasses that are each treated as a class. You decide whether to ask for a subclass. Model Rule 1.6: do not put the member data into a public tool.
