Summarise a UCC search without preparing the financing statement
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Summarise each search certificate the lawyer supplies: debtor name searched, filing office, file number, secured party and collateral indication. Do not prepare a financing statement.
- What the lawyer must review
- Read the certificate against U.C.C. § 9-502(a) and § 9-503. The filing is sufficient only if it gives the debtor's name, the secured party's name or a representative, and an indication of the collateral. A search under a trade name can miss a filing indexed under the public-organic-record name of a registered organisation, or under the individual's name the state requires. You decide whether a filing is against this debtor and this collateral. The summary is not itself a filing.
