Who does what
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Assistance | Do not begin AI assistance until the responsible lawyer has defined and confirmed its permitted scope. |
| Lawyer | Set the scope, supervise the work closely, verify every part relied on, resolve omissions and exceptions, and approve the exact output. |
Checklist
- Each discrete piece of work produced with a tool is checked. The checker has sufficient knowledge of the area to detect errors.
- The level of supervision takes account of the complexity of the task, how long the tool has been in operation, and whether it was trained for the task or repurposed.
- The tool is used only with the firm's approval and on the conditions the firm has set. Products are revised, so the system is audited periodically.
- On the joint statement, use by junior and support staff is supervised, and a document that contains generated content is reviewed for accuracy and verified before it is settled.

These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
