Request to Services Australia for a client's records and the debt calculation
Letter requesting a client's Centrelink records under Services Australia's administrative access scheme, with the client's consent: payment history, income details, the debt schedule and calculation, and the documents the decision relied on, with freedom of information as the fallback.

When to use it
Use at the start of a debt or entitlement matter, before preparing a formal review or waiver request, when the client's online account does not show what is needed to check the decision. Send it with the client's signed authority, or after the client has appointed the service as nominee.
Used for these tasks
- Rebuild a Centrelink debt calculation from the payment and income records
- Build the Centrelink or DVA decision, debt and review-deadline register
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
AI may fill this request from the matter register and the decision letter inside a template the service has approved; a caseworker checks the client details, the authority and the list of records before it is sent.
AI may
- Fill the client details, customer reference number, payment and debt references from the decision letter
- Select the records to request from a fixed checklist according to the decision type
- Diarise follow-up dates and log the request in the decision and debt register
AI must not
- Must not send a request without a signed authority or a nominee arrangement in place
- Must not request records unrelated to the matter the client has authorised
- Must not include the client's residential address or phone number where the client has asked for them to be withheld
The lawyer checks
- The client's authority (or SS313 nominee arrangement) covers this request and is current
- The records listed are what is needed to check the decision, including the debt schedule and the income used
- Whether to request a pause on debt repayments now, and whether an FOI request is needed for file notes and internal documents
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
