When to use it
Use from first instructions for an ADF member facing a service offence, a conviction or punishment, or an adverse administrative decision. It organises dates and documents; it does not draft any statement by the member.
Used for these tasks
- Build the service discipline matter register
- Index the investigation and inquiry material for an ADF member
Each task page says how far AI may help with the task and what the lawyer must review.
How AI may be used
Within this fixed register, AI may enter dates and index material from documents received; the lawyer checks each entry and every deadline against its source.
AI may
- Enter charges, hearing dates, review results and notices from the documents received
- Index investigation and inquiry material by date, author and type
- List upcoming deadlines weekly
AI must not
- Must not draft or outline any statement by the member
- Must not calculate a deadline that is not fixed by the Act, an order or a notice
The lawyer checks
- Each date checked against the notice it comes from, including the date the member was notified
- Petition and appeal deadlines diarised with extension options noted
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
