Record the current maximum or scale for non-economic loss
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the injury date and the scale or declared maximum the lawyer has accepted, the firm-controlled tool records the figure and the source line, and leaves the dollar blank where the lawyer has not accepted one. It does not pick an injury scale value or a percentage of a most extreme case, and it does not write a schedule that will be filed or served.
- What the lawyer must review
- You accept the declared or indexed amount, or you name the injury scale value.
- You do not treat a printed section amount as the current maximum.
- Use a firm-controlled tool. Wage, tax and care records are confidential under ASCR r 9 and APP 11.
- Decide whether a breach would be notifiable under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

Checklist
- For a New South Wales Civil Liability Act award, use the order in force at the date of the award. The 1 October 2026 amount opened here is $829,000.
- Do not publish the $577,050 printed in Wrongs Act s 28G as the current Victorian maximum.
- In Queensland, use the notice for the financial year in which the injury arose, not the year of the award.
- Do not apply the Civil Liability Act table, or the $829,000 maximum, to a Motor Accident Injuries Act 2017 award.

These are suggested working checks. Confirm the required checking with the responsible lawyer before work starts; the checking approach does not establish permission to use AI.
If a figure is copied into a document filed in court, the lawyer checks that court's generative-AI practice note.
