Calculate limitation and pre-action notice deadlines from the injury facts
Key facts

- How AI is used
- From the candidate trigger dates the file supports — incident date, deemed date of injury, date symptoms first appeared, and any discoverability date the lawyer has nominated — together with the notice and claim dates and the limitation and notice provisions the lawyer has named, count out each deadline and set it in a table. Each row gives the date, the fact it was counted from, and the provision the lawyer named. List every date the file gives no source for, and list the facts that could move a date — date of birth, date of first medical opinion, an earlier notice under another scheme — that the lawyer has not yet tied to a provision. Flag where the file supports more than one trigger date, showing the deadline each one produces, and where two named provisions give different dates. The tool counts days and lays out the file; it does not pick the scheme, the provision, the trigger date or the date that controls.
- What the lawyer must review
- Limitation is fatal unless extended — check the scheme's excuse and extension provisions before treating a passed date as final. Apply the current statute for the scheme and the jurisdiction. Date arithmetic is not a legal opinion.

Checklist
- Trace every relied-on figure to its source, confirm dates and assumptions, and independently recalculate totals or derived amounts.
- Calculate operative dates independently from the current rule and actual triggering event. Check exceptions and record the verified deadline.
- Verify the applicable jurisdiction and the version of each relevant law, rule or instrument in force at the material time.
- Confirm the output against the client’s instructions and the complete relevant source material, including omissions or contradictions.
- Resolve exceptions and record the responsible lawyer’s approval of the exact output and intended use.
