Ask a supplier to identify the manufacturer in writing
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the purchase records, draft a notice for the lawyer's review that asks each known supplier for particulars identifying the manufacturer, or that supplier's own supplier, and diary 30 days from the request. Do not say that any supplier is the manufacturer.
- What the lawyer must review
- Settle the notice, the suppliers it goes to, and what is requested. The supplier receives the letter.
- If after 30 days the manufacturer is still unknown, decide which requested suppliers did not comply.
- Treat a non-complying supplier as the manufacturer for the action, but not for s 142(c).
