Stop before certifying a translation
Key facts
- Human involvement
- RedLawyer-led
- How AI is used
- Produce no certificate and no statement that a translation is complete or accurate. If an internal working text already exists, label it not for filing.
- What the lawyer must review
- The policy-manual chapter opened says each foreign birth certificate submitted to establish country of citizenship for visa chargeability, identity, and derivative relationships must include a certified English translation. The tool does not make that certification and does not sign a translator statement. Model Rule 1.6 applies to the identity document. The lawyer decides who may certify a translation that will be filed.

Who does what
| Role | What they do |
|---|---|
| Assistance | Supporting preparation only. Consider narrowly defined preparation support after confirming the tool’s capability and permitted scope. The tool writes nothing into the document. Substantive advice, judgement and any restricted content remain with the responsible human. |
| Lawyer | Perform the substantive analysis and decisions. Independently check any permitted supporting work and approve the exact output for its intended use. |
