Make an internal translation that is not filed
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Produce a working English version of a client document for the lawyer's review, marked internal. Do not format it as a certified translation and do not attach it to a filing.
- What the lawyer must review
- The policy-manual chapter opened states that a copy of a foreign birth certificate, or sufficient secondary evidence of birth, is submitted to establish country of citizenship for visa chargeability, identity, and derivative relationships, and that each foreign birth certificate must include a certified English translation. That sentence is about the birth certificate in that chapter. It is not restated here as a rule for every document. An internal working translation is not that certified translation. Model Rule 1.6 applies to identity documents. Do not upload them to a public tool.
