How AI is used
From the lease, plan, and correspondence the lawyer supplies, copy each passage that describes an effect on a historic property and each passage that describes reclamation or closure, with the page. Do not decide that a federal agency must comment and do not write a closure plan.
What the lawyer must review
54 U.S.C. 306108 provides that the head of any Federal agency having direct or indirect jurisdiction over a proposed Federal or federally assisted undertaking in any State, and the head of any Federal department or independent agency having authority to license any undertaking, shall, before approving the expenditure of any Federal funds on the undertaking or issuing any license, take into account the effect of the undertaking on any historic property. The head of the Federal agency shall afford the Council a reasonable opportunity to comment with regard to the undertaking. The definition of historic property in section 300308 was not opened. 30 U.S.C. 226(g) provides that the Secretary of the Interior, or for National Forest lands the Secretary of Agriculture, shall regulate all surface-disturbing activities conducted pursuant to any lease issued under that chapter and shall determine reclamation and other actions as required in the interest of conservation of surface resources. No permit to drill on an oil and gas lease issued under that chapter may be granted without the analysis and approval by the Secretary concerned of a plan of operations covering proposed surface-disturbing activities within the lease area. The lawyer decides what the papers require. The extract does not.
