- How AI is used
- List the federal approvals the lawyer has identified and whether each is described as a major federal action. Do not conclude that an environmental impact statement is, or is not, required.
- What the lawyer must review
- 42 U.S.C. § 4332(C) requires, for every recommendation or report on proposals for legislation and other major federal actions significantly affecting the quality of the human environment, a detailed statement on the environmental impact, any reasonably foreseeable adverse effects that cannot be avoided, and a reasonable range of alternatives that are technically and economically feasible and meet the purpose and need. The responsible official prepares that statement. State permits are a separate pathway. The lawyer decides which paragraph applies. Do not import an Australian environmental-approval statute.
