How AI is used
Index the documents the lawyer assembles for one proposed ground disturbance. For each document record the title, the date, and the page that describes the land. Do not draft an agency finding and do not say the disturbance may proceed.
What the lawyer must review
54 U.S.C. 306108 requires the head of a Federal agency, before approving the expenditure of Federal funds on a Federal or federally assisted undertaking or issuing a license for an undertaking, to take into account the effect of the undertaking on any historic property and to afford the Council a reasonable opportunity to comment. The index does not make that accounting and does not write the comment. 30 U.S.C. 226(g) provides that no permit to drill on an oil and gas lease issued under that chapter may be granted without analysis and approval of a plan of operations covering proposed surface-disturbing activities within the lease area. The lawyer decides which documents belong in the pack and whether any approval has been given. The index does not.
