How AI is used
From the instrument and the Bureau printout, list the claim or site, the serial number if the papers show one, the transferor and the transferee, and whether a copy of the transfer instrument is in the file. Do not prepare the notice that is filed with the Bureau.
What the lawyer must review
State law decides when the transfer is effective, not the date it is filed with the Bureau of Land Management (43 C.F.R. § 3833.32(a)). You file a notice in the BLM State Office with the serial number if you have it, the transferee's name and current mailing address, and a copy of the instrument. Each transferee pays the processing fee in the table at 43 C.F.R. § 3830.21, which points to the § 3000.12 schedule. That schedule was not opened, so do not state a dollar figure for the processing fee. This is not a ministerial-consent regime. Opinion 512 requires you to verify the notice before it is filed.
