Check an older client's research answers against the file
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- For each legal sentence in the client's research, record whether a source the lawyer supplies states it. List a sentence with no source. Do not answer the legal question.
- What the lawyer must review
- You answer the client. Model Rule 1.4(b) requires an explanation sufficient for an informed decision, and it is your explanation, not the printout. Comment 8 to Rule 1.1 and Formal Opinion 512 require you to understand the tool and to check a citation before you rely on it. A research answer that names no source you have opened is not advice. No state guardianship or capacity statute was opened for this check.
