Review a commercial due-diligence report produced with a generative tool
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- List each conclusion in the report, the document it cites, and whether that document is in the file. Mark a citation that has no document beside it. Do not replace the conclusion with a new one.
- What the lawyer must review
- ABA Formal Opinion 512 (29 July 2024) requires a competent lawyer to review generative-tool output before anyone relies on it. The amount of review depends on the task and on prior testing. Model Rule 1.1 Comment 8 requires understanding the benefits and risks of the technology used. A lease longer than one year still needs the writing in California Civil Code § 1624(a)(3). You accept or reject each conclusion.
