- How AI is used
- Fill a file note with the tool name, the date, what was put into the tool, and what the lawyer says was checked, leaving a blank where the lawyer has not yet said.
- What the lawyer must review
- Formal Opinion 512: the lawyer supervises the work and remains responsible for it. The note is accurate only if you confirm each line. A generated note that overstates what was checked fails that duty. Model Rule 1.6: the note should not paste client content into a tool that is not confidential. Comment 8 to Rule 1.1 is the duty to understand the technology being recorded.
