Remove client identifiers from a contract before it is put into a tool
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Apply the removal list the lawyer supplies, replacing each listed name, address, price and account number with a token, and flag any leftover item on that list.
- What the lawyer must review
- Model Rule 1.6: do not put client information into a tool that is not configured to keep it confidential. You read the output before it is sent, because a contract can identify the client by a deal term that is not on a standing list. Formal Opinion 512 does not treat a confidentiality setting as optional. This check is done on the contract in hand. It is not finished when the list was first written.
