Is it allowed to use AI for ART merits review in Australia?
Yes, if you follow the Tribunal’s generative AI practice direction and checklist. Read the PDF. Do not apply the Federal Court note in its place.
Guide
Merits review in the Administrative Review Tribunal follows that Tribunal’s generative AI practice direction and the checklist that sits with it. It is not the Federal Court note.
The Tribunal publishes a generative AI practice direction. Read the direction and the checklist it points to before you upload a document or file a submission. Do not assume it copies GPN-AI. The court page on this site says the same thing and tells you to confirm the date on the PDF.
Open the case and the statutory provision. A citation that does not support the sentence is removed. One generative tool does not verify another where the direction requires a person to check. If the direction’s disclosure rule applies to your document, follow that rule rather than a disclosure copied from another forum.
