When to use it
Issue to every lawyer, staff member and contractor with the master AI use policy, and use as the day-to-day reference before anything is uploaded to an AI tool. Do not adopt it instead of the master policy: verification, court disclosure, billing and records stay in the master.
How AI may be used
AI may help draft and maintain these rules from the master policy and build training on them. The principals decide the information table and the approved tools, and keep both aligned with the master policy and current court rules.
AI may
- Draft the rules and the one-page summary from the master policy and the practice's actual tools, for principal review.
- Compare these rules with the master policy after each change and list any differences.
- Prepare training scenarios and quizzes on the information table and upload checklist.
AI must not
- Must not set the approved tools or the information table.
- Must not be used to "check" current court rules without a person reading the official practice notes.
- Must not receive client information when used to draft or update the rules.
The lawyer checks
- The information table uses the master policy's classes and matches the approved AI tools register and each tool's contract.
- Clause 4 matches the current restricted-material rules of every court and tribunal the practice appears in.
- The incident contact and reporting time match the master AI incident response procedure.
Method: how the Green, Yellow and Red levels are decided. This is guidance for planning, not legal advice.
