When to use it
Use when a listed entity needs to pause trading before a market-sensitive announcement, usually because confidentiality has been lost or the announcement is not yet ready. ASX releases the request, so it must not reveal confidential details.
How AI may be used
Lawyer and company secretary led. The request deals with unannounced market-sensitive information under time pressure; AI may at most format a request from facts the company secretary has approved.
AI may
- Fill the template from facts the company secretary has approved, in an approved environment
- Check that each LR 17.1 matter is addressed and that no confidential detail appears
AI must not
- Must not decide whether a halt is needed or how long it should last
- Must not process the underlying transaction or market-sensitive facts in an unapproved tool
- Must not lodge or send the request
The lawyer checks
- Reason stated without disclosing confidential terms or misleading the market
- Requested end time no later than ASX’s permitted period
- Holding announcement ready and the full announcement on track
