Check what a later marriage does to an existing will
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the will and the marriage record, copy the date of the will, the date of the marriage, any words that the will was made in contemplation of marriage, and each gift or appointment in favour of the person the testator married. The tool does not say the will was revoked.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer decides what, if anything, remains of the will. Only the New South Wales section was opened.

Checklist
- Compare the date of the will with the date of the marriage before treating the will as revoked.
- Keep a gift to the spouse, and an appointment of the spouse, if the testator was married to that person at death.
- Look for contemplation of the particular marriage even where the will does not use those words.
- Do not apply this section outside New South Wales.
