Record that a witness need not know the document is a will
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the execution notes, record any statement that a witness did not know the document was a will. Do not decide that the will was validly executed.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer decides whether the will was executed in accordance with the Act. Only then does this section keep the execution valid despite that lack of knowledge.

Checklist
- A will that is executed in accordance with the Act is validly executed even if one or more witnesses did not know that the document attested and signed was a will.
- The section does not itself set the manner of execution. That is decided under the execution section already opened.
- A witness who did not know the document was a will is not, for that reason alone, treated as an ineffective witness.
- The lawyer decides whether the will was executed in accordance with the Act.
