How AI is used
List each state where the file shows solicitation, assets or activity, and the registration status recorded for that state. Do not state that a state does not require registration unless the lawyer has opened that state's official page. State law governs, and the lawyer confirms the governing state. For example, New York.
What the lawyer must review
Charitable solicitation is state law. The New York Attorney General's Charities Bureau says most organisations that hold property for charitable purposes, engage in charitable activities in New York, or solicit charitable contributions in New York, including foundation and government grants, must register. Exemptions described on that page include religious organisations (houses of worship) and charitable organisations run by them, membership organisations that do not solicit from the public, parent-teacher associations, educational institutions that file annual reports with the New York State Education Department, and governmental agencies. An organisation that believes it is exempt claims the exemption through the registration portal. You confirm every other state from that state's official page before the matrix says the organisation must, or need not, register. Federal 501(c)(3) status does not replace state registration. State law governs, and the lawyer confirms the governing state. For example, New York.
