Screen a client alert or seminar note for confidential information
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- Highlight names, matter descriptions, figures, quotes and outcomes in the draft that are identifiable to a client engagement, and note where the draft says the client has authorised publication. Do not delete the lawyer's text. Do not decide that an exception in rule 9.2 applies. Do not clear the note for sending.
- What the lawyer must review
- Decide whether anything in the draft is confidential information acquired during an engagement and, if it is, whether a rule 9.2 exception allows the disclosure. On the text opened, rule 9.1 prohibits disclosure of a client's confidential information acquired during the engagement, except to people inside the practice or engaged to deliver or administer the legal services for that client, unless rule 9.2 applies. Publication to clients or to an audience is not one of those internal recipients. Confirm the compilation that applies.
