- How AI is used
- From the product identifier the user enters, return only the Harmonized Tariff Schedule classification already stored for that exact identifier, with the date the lawyer approved the row. If the identifier does not match a row exactly, return no classification.
- What the lawyer must review
- 19 U.S.C. 1484 requires the importer of record, using reasonable care, to complete the entry by filing the declared classification and rate of duty. 19 C.F.R. 177.2 limits a classification ruling by the National Commodity Specialist Division or a service port office to a prospective transaction, and Headquarters retains authority to review those letters. Confirm that the stored row is the same article and that any ruling it rests on still covers the entry.
