Extract termination and handback steps from the franchise agreement
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- List each termination, non-renewal and handback clause with its number and page, and note whether Item 17 of the disclosure document mentions it. Do not add a notice period the clause does not state.
- What the lawyer must review
- 16 C.F.R. § 436.4 lists Item 17 as renewal, termination, transfer and dispute resolution. Part 436, as opened, does not itself set a minimum notice before termination. State franchise-relationship statutes can, and none was opened, so you do not import a number of days. Section 436.10(b) is why a more protective state law can still apply. You decide what the clause requires and what, if anything, must be sent.
