Prepare a written report of costs incurred on request
Key facts
- Human involvement
- YellowClose supervision
- How AI is used
- From the time records and bills the lawyer marks, prepare a written report of the legal costs incurred by the client to date, or since the last bill if there is one. Do not add a charge for the report and do not send it.
- What the lawyer must review
- The lawyer decides that the request is a reasonable request, checks the figures, and gives the report within a reasonable period and without charge. Where the Queensland Act applies, the lawyer applies the differences in section 317.

Checklist
- The report states legal costs incurred to date, or since the last bill if one has been given.
- Under the Uniform Law the report is given without charge and within a reasonable period.
- Do not charge for a Queensland costs report. A Queensland progress report of the matter is a separate report, and the lawyer decides any reasonable charge for that report.
