## When to use it

Use for a non-contentious application for a grant of probate in NSW where there is a will and a named executor. For letters of administration, reseals or contested estates, use the corresponding forms and rules.

## How AI may be used

Lawyer-led for the affidavit, which is sworn evidence and must disclose that Gen AI was not used to generate it. AI may help reconcile names, dates and assets across documents and prepare the inventory from statements for checking.

**AI may:**

- Reconcile names, dates, executor details and addresses across the will, death certificate and draft documents, and table differences
- Prepare a draft inventory of assets and liabilities from statements, with sources, for the lawyer to verify
- Break a Registry requisition into separate requests mapped to evidence

**AI must not:**

- Must not generate or rephrase any part of the executor's affidavit (SC Gen 23 paras 12, 13)
- Must not fill the approved forms without line-by-line checking
- Must not enter the deceased's or family's records into a public AI tool

**The lawyer checks:**

- Notice published at least 14 days before filing, with the required content
- Will execution, alterations and marks explained in evidence if needed
- Inventory values and the Gen AI disclosure in the affidavit
