## When to use it

Use when a person may apply to Victim Assist Queensland and the file needs the published category, reporting rule and time limit recorded before an application is prepared.

## Used for these tasks

- [Build the victims' claim eligibility and deadline register](https://ailawframework.com/practice/victims-of-crime-support-and-compensation/build-the-victims-claim-eligibility-and-deadline-register.md)

## How AI may be used

The tool may enter the category and the dates the file suggests, and the lawyer decides eligibility and any extension.

**AI may:**

- Record which victim description on the guide is being considered.
- Record whether the violence was reported, and to whom the guide says that category must report.
- Enter the three-year date, or the 21st birthday if the person was under 18.
- If the act was before 1 December 2009, record which of the guide's three conditions is said to be met.

**AI must not:**

- Do not prepare the Victim Assist application. That form is a separate precedent.
- Do not decide that special circumstances justify extra time.
- Do not state a section of the Victims of Crime Assistance Act 2009. The Act was not opened.
- Do not write the victim's account of the violence.

**The lawyer checks:**

- Confirm the category, the reporting rule and the date against the current guide. It was last updated on 4 August 2026 when read.
- Confirm whether the act was before or after 1 December 2009, and after 1 July 2017 if domestic violence is relied on for special primary victim status.
- If an extension is sought, the supporting information comes from a doctor, psychologist, counsellor, or domestic and family violence service, as the guide describes.
