## When to use it

Give it (in writing, read aloud or interpreted) before using any AI tool with a client's information, including meeting transcription, intake summaries or machine translation. Do not use it to seek consent for AI uses the service has not approved, or for translating legal advice.

## How AI may be used

AI may help simplify the notice and draft translations for a qualified translator to check. The description of tools and data handling must match what the service actually uses, and the client's choice must be recorded and respected.

**AI may:**

- Simplify wording and check reading level
- Draft translations for review by a qualified translator and a community reviewer
- Prepare a short script for staff to read the notice aloud

**AI must not:**

- Must not describe tools, storage locations or protections that have not been confirmed
- Must not be relied on to translate legal advice to the client
- Must not treat silence as consent

**The lawyer checks:**

- Each AI use listed is approved by the service and matches the tool's current terms
- The client's choice is recorded on the file and followed
- Interpreter alternative is offered and available
- Notice is consistent with the service's privacy policy
