## When to use it

Use when an insurer is considering cancelling a contract of general insurance. It is not used for life insurance, and it does not choose the ground.

## Used for these tasks

- [Prepare the insurer's notice cancelling a general insurance policy](https://ailawframework.com/practice/insurance-law/prepare-the-insurer-s-notice-cancelling-a-general-insurance-policy.md)

## How AI may be used

AI may enter the policy dates from the schedule. It does not select a ground for cancellation or draft the notice.

**AI may:**

- Enter the policy number, the inception date and any unpaid premium date from the schedule
- List which section 60 grounds are still blank
- Count the third business day after a date the lawyer nominates, using the Act's definition of business day

**AI must not:**

- Must not decide that a section 60 ground is available
- Must not draft the notice of cancellation
- Must not say that the contract has been cancelled

**The lawyer checks:**

- A ground in section 60, or section 62 for an instalment contract, is identified by the lawyer
- The notice meets section 59 and the time of cancellation is the time section 59 states
- Section 63 is considered before any other contractual cancellation clause is used
