> An index that maps each RFE or NOID point to one exhibit in a single response, with the deadline taken from the notice and no narrative for the lawyer to skip.

## Key facts

- Kind: Checklist. Steps or checks to work through and tick off.
- Practice area: [Immigration & Migration Law](https://ailawframework.com/precedents/immigration-and-migration-law.md)
- Jurisdictions: United States
- AI level: Yellow. You and the tool draft together, with you directing. You check every statement you rely on.
- Law stated as at: 2026-10-22
- Status: Maintained. Checked on 2026-10-22 against the 2 authorities it cites, for United States.

## When to use it

Use when USCIS has issued a request for evidence or a notice of intent to deny. Do not use it as the response letter. The lawyer writes the explanation. Do not use it for a sworn statement.

## How AI may be used

A tool may split the notice into rows, one per numbered point, and suggest an exhibit only from a document already in the file.

**AI may:**

- Copy each request in the notice into its own row, with the notice's words
- Enter the deadline printed on the notice
- Mark a row that has no exhibit
- Mark a foreign-language exhibit that has no full translation

**AI must not:**

- Must not write the narrative response
- Must not calculate a deadline that replaces the date on the notice
- Must not drop a requested item because the file has a partial set
- Must not add a declaration or a jurat
- Must not file the response

**The lawyer checks:**

- The deadline on the index is the date the notice states, checked against the manual's mailing and weekend rules
- Every requested item is a row, and the response is one submission with the original notice
- Each exhibit is aimed at eligibility at filing, or the lawyer has marked it as discretion only
- A partial packet is not sent
