## When to use it

Use when preparing an ethics review submission for a human research project, before the project description or consent wording is settled.

## Used for these tasks

## How AI may be used

The tool lists the study title, population and documents the lawyer names, and the lawyer writes the submission and chooses the review pathway.

**AI may:**

- Enter the study title, sponsor and document list from the lawyer's index.
- Remind the lawyer of the effective date and the Section 4 points stated on the publication page.

**AI must not:**

- Do not draft the project description, the consent wording or the risk narrative.
- Do not decide that a project is lower risk or higher risk.
- Do not treat this checklist as a substitute for the National Statement. The PDF was not opened.

**The lawyer checks:**

- Read the 2025 National Statement. The publication page says it is effective from 23 June 2026 and is the current statement.
- Apply Section 4 only as the page describes it, and read Chapter 2.1 before using a low-risk pathway.
- Use the corrected wording of paragraph 5.3.3 given on the publication page, not the bracketed text the page says is out of date.
