Templates and a reporting schedule for a distributor of a financial product with a target market determination: the 10-business-day significant dealing notice, the complaints report, and the periodic report of information the TMD requires, with the records the distributor must keep.

## Key facts

- Kind: Notice. A formal notice to serve or publish.
- Practice area: [Financial Services Regulation](https://ailawframework.com/precedents/financial-services-regulation.md)
- Jurisdictions: Australia
- AI level: Yellow. AI can help in set ways. A lawyer checks specific points before use.
- Law stated as at: 2026-10-18
- Status: Maintained. Checked on 2026-10-18 against the 3 authorities it cites, for Australia.

## When to use it

Use by a licensee, platform, adviser group or other regulated person that engages in retail product distribution conduct for a product with a TMD, to meet its reporting duties to the issuer. Issuers can give it to distributors as their required reporting format.

## Used for these tasks

## How AI may be used

AI may compile complaint counts and sales data into the reports and flag dealings outside the target market for review, but a compliance officer decides whether a dealing is significant and inconsistent with the TMD and signs off each report.

**AI may:**

- Build the reporting schedule from each TMD’s reporting periods and the 10-business-day deadlines
- Count complaints about each product for the period from the complaints register and fill the complaints report
- Flag sales or holdings that fall outside the target market attributes in the TMD for a compliance officer to assess

**AI must not:**

- Must not decide whether a dealing is a significant dealing or is inconsistent with the TMD
- Must not send a report to an issuer without sign-off
- Must not include clients’ personal information in a report unless the TMD or the issuer requires it and the privacy basis has been checked

**The lawyer checks:**

- Each product’s TMD has been read for its reporting periods, the kinds of information required and the distributor’s specific obligations
- The significant dealing assessment is documented, and any notice is sent within 10 business days of becoming aware
- Complaints reports state the number of complaints (or that none were received) for every reporting period, including nil periods
- Records under s 994F(3) are complete and kept in a form that can be produced to ASIC
