## When to use it

Use for a defendant before the first mention or after an interim order. Do not use where criminal charges arise from the same events without also advising on the criminal matter, and never to discourage the defendant from complying with an order.

## How AI may be used

Lawyer-led. AI may extract the client's current arrangements from documents the lawyer supplies and flag where a proposed condition cuts across them. It must not write the advice or any condition.

**AI may:**

- Extract from supplied documents a table of the client's licences, employment, housing, visa and parenting arrangements
- Flag where a proposed condition appears to conflict with an existing arrangement, for the lawyer to assess

**AI must not:**

- Must not write the advice, recommend consent or contest, or draft conditions
- Must not receive the protected person's address or other identifying details beyond what is in the application
- Must not summarise the allegations in a way that minimises or characterises them

**The lawyer checks:**

- Any related criminal charges and bail conditions
- Licence, employment, visa and family law consequences checked for this client
- The client understands the order binds them however they plead
